Here are a few testimonies of those we've walked alongside. Perhaps something of their story resonates with you.
"I had the pleasure of working with JB Hecock as a fellow elder at our local church. I was consistently impressed by his skills in leadership development, team development, and spiritual direction. His humility was clearly demonstrated. He created a safe and supportive environment by acknowledging his own weaknesses which encouraged others towards growth. His leadership was demonstrated through his direction of the Celebrate Recovery program at our church. JB has a deep understanding of team dynamics. He was skilled at helping teams to set goals, develop strategies, and work together effectively. He viewed every opinion as important but was not afraid to discuss differences of opinion. His objections were always voiced respectively. He was not afraid to face conflict. Above all, he wanted the team to work together, to make us and our church more effective in ministry.
In addition to his skills in leadership development, he was a gifted spiritual director. He created a safe space where people felt free to explore spiritual issues. He provided gentle “nudges” when needed. He had a deep understanding of spiritual disciplines and provided vast resources from Christian literature on the subject. I am confident that he would be an asset to any organization that is looking for a spiritual leader who can develop and grow others. I highly recommend him."

Sometimes, you need a friend on your journey. The spiritual journey can be filled with some unknowns, and having someone with you is refreshing and provides hope and encouragement. This is what I experienced with JB as my spiritual director. His gentleness is just what I needed at that time of my life. He mostly just listened as I worked things out in my soul and affirmed and challenged my thoughts.
There is no judgment in this relationship, just friendship, but more than just a casual friendship, and it is a friend on the journey with you. He may not have gone on the same journey I had, and it is not about his experience as much as his guidance and affirmation that it is okay to question and “work it all out.” Scripture tells us to work out our faith in “fear and trembling.” I can imagine what it would be like to have had to go through this on my own. I am grateful for JB and his time with me. It was a blessing and provided a safe space to work through so much of this second half of my journey. I highly recommend JB if you are looking for someone to journey with!
